SRI GANESHA
Within the sacred Umamaheshwara Temple resides a truly beautiful sanctum dedicated to Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha). Here, a daily ritual of deep reverence unfolds. Each day, the deity is bathed in the sacred panchamrutha (a mixture of five nectars), adorned with fragrant flowers in elaborate alankaras (decorations), offered a grand naivedya (food offering), and honored with the auspicious mangalarathi (waving of sacred lamps).
Our beloved Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, unfailingly answers the heartfelt prayers of devotees, fulfilling their diverse wishes. Many sacred services (sevas) and adornments (alankaras), detailed below, are offered by devotees daily, with particular emphasis on Tuesdays and Sankashtahara Chaturthi (a special day dedicated to Ganesha)
Durva Sahasranama: Recitation of the thousand names of Ganesha using sacred Durva (sacred) grass.
Gakara Ganapathi Sahasranama: Recitation of the thousand names of Ganesha beginning with the syllable "Ga."
Kadubina Hara: Offering of Kadubu (a sweet dumpling).
Modaka Naivedya: Offering of Modaka (sweet dumplings, another favourite of Ganesha).
Kabinna Halu Abhisheka: Sacred bath of the deity with sugarcane juice.
Vibhuti Alankara: Adornment of the deity with sacred ash (Vibhuti).
Ganapati Homa (For Knowledge/Education): A sacred fire ritual performed to invoke Ganesha's blessings for wisdom and learning.
Hoorna Kadabu Homa: A special fire ritual involving Hoorna Kadabu (a specific type of sweet offering) is performed when Sankashtahara Chaturthi falls on Angaraka Tuesday (Tuesday ruled by Mars), adding a potent layer of spiritual significance.
This sacred space vibrates with divine energy, offering solace and blessings to all who seek the grace of Lord Ganesha.
Abisheka
Abhisheka is a sacred ritual in Hinduism where a deity's idol is bathed with sacred liquids like milk, yogurt, honey, and water, amidst the chanting of mantras. It's believed to purify the deity and the devotees, fostering a deeper connection with the divine.
Archane
Archana is a special, personal, abbreviated puja done by temple priests in which the name, birth star and family lineage of a devotee are recited to invoke individual guidance and blessings.
